Initiation services for Alpha Phi’s 95th chapter, Epsilon Theta, were held March 7 and 8 at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with 32 collegiate and 20 alumnae members being installed.
All the initiation activities were held at the Cedar Falls Holiday Inn beginning Friday evening with an inspirational ceremony. Initiation began at 10:00 a.m., and a buffet luncheon was enjoyed before the model chapter meeting at 2:00 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. a formal banquet was served where they feasted on the best Iowa-raised sirloin steak. Twenty-one women from Delta Epsilon (Iowa) helped with initiation and the enjoyable festivities to make the entire weekend the most memorable ever.
Sunday morning, parents from all over Iowa and Illinois came to attend church services with their daughters at St. Timothy’s Methodist Church. A reception was held Sunday afternoon to honor the new initiates. At 3:30 p.m. the thrilling experience of signing the charter took place.
Phi Sigma Phi, a 52-year old local sorority, was pledged by Alpha Phi in September 1969. There were seven other national sororities on the campus, plus five national fraternities.
