Zeta Nu chapter of Alpha Phi became the 10th sorority on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. It became a part of the Greek system during the spring of 1978 when Alpha Phi was chosen unanimously from a field of seven other sororities. Soon after the selection was made, a house board was formed and a decorator hired to redecorate the chapter room, foyer, study area and kitchen of the chapter house. The house held 36 women with two per room. All of the houses were identical and only maintenance individual groups were responsible for was on the inside.
By the time recruitment rolled around in September 1978, a beautifully decorated downstairs greeted the potential new members. The Fort Worth alumnae coordinated the parties. Also lending a sisterly hand were the Omega Chapter from the University of Texas at Austin and Gamma Iota Chapter from Texas Tech University. Forty-five young women were recruited into the chapter on Sunday, September 10.
Seven months later, on April 21, 1979, Zeta Nu chapter became a reality, when 50 young women were initiated into Alpha Phi by Gamma Eta Chapter of North Texas State. Court of Ivy was held the previous night and was conducted by Epsilon Lambda Chapter of University of Texas at Arlington, at the Alpha Phi house of TCU.
Initiation was held that April Saturday at 8:30 AM in the University United Methodist Church, Fort Worth. The model meeting was held on Monday, April 23, and was conducted by the advisory board and acting district governor. Initiation was immediately followed by the initiation banquet at the Hilton hotel in downtown Fort Worth. A reception was held at the Alpha Phi house immediately following the banquet for new initiates and their friends, families, advisers and alumni. The presentation of the charter was made by Nancy DeVoe and Mary Carr Boyd (Omicron-Missouri) to Deborah Lynn English.
