Founding Date

Eta Nu chapter was installed at the State University of New York, Albany, on Saturday, March 11, 1989.

The enthusiasm and dedication of the members toward Alpha Phi were reinforced by the support shown to them by Alpha Phi International at both the international and local levels. Volunteers present to assist in the installation weekend were International President Sally McCall Grant (Gamma-DePauw); International Administrator of Fraternity Education and new chapter supervisor Linda Groves Root (Delta Epsilon-Iowa); Albany Alumnae Chapter president Susan Chadbourne (Delta Nu-Maine); advisory board members Pam Novak De Veer (Eta-Boston), Krisi Rapp Carr (Omicron-Missouri), Lucretia Graziadei Gabriel (Delta-Cornell), Rebecca James Baldes (Delta Chi-William Woods), Maggie Ruckman Kiesow (Epsilon Alpha-Ashland); Field Consultant Priscilla Barnett (Zeta Mu-Colorado State), and collegians from Syracuse University and SUNY Binghamton.

A reception honoring Eta Nu was attended by parents, university representatives and guests. Helen Adams, Assistant Director of Student Activities, welcomed the chapter on behalf of the administration. Eta Nu was warmly greeted, with gifts from alumnae and collegiate chapters. Reinforcing Alpha Phi’s commitment to the local community, the Alpha Phi Foundation presented a check for $1,000 to the Albany Medical Hospital.
