Alpha Phi’s presence at Butler University began with a recruitment tea on February 19, 1967. The following week, hundreds of unaffiliated women participated in recruitment activities until February 24, 1967, when forty-two new members were introduced at Butler’s Panhellenic-Interfraternity Council “Greek Ball”. In May of 1967, new members of the Epsilon Beta chapter participated in meetings, new member training and informal get-togethers for several weeks prior to the installation weekend of May 6-7. Then, on May 6, 1967, the new members travelled to Bloomington, Indiana, where initiation services were conducted by Indiana University’s Beta Tau chapter in their chapter house and a formal banquet was held that evening in the Marott Hotel. The next morning, Sunday May 7, collegians and alumnae attended church services together before the installation service that afternoon. A beautiful reception for the installation took place in the Krannert Room of Clowes Hall where the new members, alumnae and local and international officers were warmly welcomed.
