Snow blanketed the surrounding wheat fields as the Eta Psi chapter was installed at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, on January 27, 1990. Eta Psi was the first new Alpha Phi chapter in the state of Washington, in 37 years.
On hand for installation festivities were International Vice-President Alumnae Mary Berkmoes Peterson (Delta Omega-Minnesota State Moorhead); Foundation Director Nancy Morris Bosworth (Epsilon Gamma-Sacramento State); District Alumnae Coordinator Helen Lafrenz Rock (Beta Zeta-Idaho); Chapter Supervisor Kelly Brown, and Field Consultant Jacquelin Haas LeBreck (Zeta Delta-Iowa State).
Installation events began on Friday evening with the Court of Ivy ceremony conducted by the collegians from Beta Zeta chapter at the University of Idaho. On Saturday afternoon after initiation, a lovely reception planned by Installation Chairman Valaurie Tolles Caprez (Beta Rho-Washington State), was held at the Pence Union building. Toastmistress Helen Lafrenz Rock (Beta Zeta-Idaho) expedited the program. Over 100 guests, including parents, administrators and other Greeks, gathered to watch as Mary Berkmoes Peterson presented the charter to the proud chapter.
