On May 6, 1989, Alpha Phi’s 20th chapter in California was established at Chapman College.
The installation weekend followed inspiration days during which Chapman’s sister chapter, Beta Delta (UCLA), assisted with ceremonies. Present for the initiation and installation reception were International Vice President Alumnae Mary Berkmoes Carroll (Delta Omega-Minnesota State Moorhead) and District Alumnae chairman Lindsay Wiggins (Beta Pi-USC).
Jeff Quick, Activities Adviser at Chapman College, attended the reception and welcomed Alpha Phi to the Greek community. Lindsey Wiggins, representing District XIII Council, presented a Lazy Phi badge to the chapter president, Lesleigh Correll. A check for $1000 from the Alpha Phi Foundation was presented to the Children’s Hospital of Orange, California, to honor the installation of the new chapter.
