Delta Chi

William Woods University

Nov 20th, 1965

Founding Date

Delta Chi was installed on November 20, 1965, along with two other sororities. This was the first time William Woods introduced sororities on campus. Installation ceremonies were held at the Omicron chapter house at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Members of the Omicron chapter conducted the ceremony, with assistance from the Gamma Gamma chapter at Drury College. An installation banquet was held that evening at the Daniel Boone Hotel, Columbia where the twenty-eight new members signed the charter. The weekend culminated with a reception by college officials welcoming the new members of all three sororities installed that weekend. The field representative was Sue Raulerson (Beta-Northwestern) who "ribbon pledged" new members in spring of 1965. Her enthusiasm kept new members excited all summer long, culminating in the formal new member ceremony on September 26, 1965. Less than two months later they were initiated and became a chapter.
